Welcome to "The Z"!
It's about time, right? What was planted in the Spring of 2023 has begun to take root just two years later! After some impressive growth on Instagram, and a considerable amount of time spent talking about it, we finally have a website - not just that - a store!
That's insane, guys, but we couldn't have even taken the first steps in this incredible adventure if it wasn't for all of you being behind us and supporting us every step of the way! So what's our next move?
We're gonna make good on our promises to become an integrated and active part of this thriving community. This website isn't just "The Z Store", even if that might be a lot of it. No-no! This website will serve as our primary base of operations on the internet going forward!
So kick back, set your Spotify to your favorite Z List Genrecon Playlist - on Shuffle, of course, pull up a Weekly Z, and find your new weekend plans as Legacy and Zombie bring you whatever the newest episode of the podcast about. NC's Underground has you covered - right here on 99.9 "The Z"!
TUNE IN!
THE SHOW
Our podcast where we discuss whatever we feel like and however we feel like discussing it! Usually, we're talking about the NC Creative Scene, our favorite tunes lately, and fun or funny things that have happened with us lately! We bring guests on the show, we have music blocks like a radio program, and a few other fun surprises! You should check us out sometime!
OR! If you want to get to know us before The Z Show, you can check out our first project "The Small-Time Show" and see what we're about! There's plenty of material!
Meet the Crew!
(Sort-of)
We keep a fun anonymity thing going around here! It's less about not wanting people to know who we really are and more that it's not about us. Or, at least, it's less about us and more about the creative community.
Legacy

Legacy [leg-uh-see]: (noun) The long-lasting impact of the events or actions of a person's life.
The newest member of 99.9 "The Z is Legacy! She arrived on The Small-Time Show around 6 months after "The Z" launched - specifically in Episode 3! Since joining the crew, Legacy has been training directly with Zombie as she learns the ropes - and she's already made waves of her own in building her reputation as someone with a passion for the scene that runs deep in her veins. She has a lot of vision for ways to better engage with our audiences, and she's often acted as an excellent sounding wall for her crewmates! Her outside perspective has helped 99.9 "The Z" adapt and grow in ways that the crew could've never anticipated when it all started! She is an indispensable member of the 99.9!
Legacy is from East NC and was brought onto the crew initially to oversee operations in the RTP area of North Carolina - however after a recent move that took her further into the area than she already was, Bossman elected to have her instead now build our presence in the East NC area! From her new outpost deep within the thick of that region, she keeps track of East NC events, small businesses, festivals, and craft fairs as they pass through the area. She's the only one of the crew with any formal radio or broadcasting experience, and her expertise has proven invaluable to the growth of the 99.9.
Fun Facts with Legacy #001: North Carolina got the nickname "The Tar Heel State" because workers here used to sell tar, pitch, and turpentine from the state's longleaf pine trees - to be used on wooden ships. Legend has it that some British soldiers were slowed down when they stepped in sticky North Carolina tar during The Revolutionary War!
Zombie
We have dead hands, but they're far from idle.
If you've interacted with or listened to 99.9 "The Z" at all, you've probably interacted with our resident "deadman" in some capacity. This guy's hands are in nearly everything that we do when it comes to interacting with you guys; Posting new content, recording, streaming, booking - if there's been a project involving the public, Zombie's had it covered. We couldn't ask for a better host!
Zombie is from the RTP originally, but moved to the Piedmont Triad area to assist and be the face of 99.9 for the mysterious "Bossman". He has a love for the local music scene like no one you've ever seen, and a passion to help it grow.

Bossman
Video killed the Radio Star. The Z reads the Necronomicon.

"Either I will find a way, or I will make one."
-Hannibal
The reclusive owner and director of 99.9 "The Z" is the mysterious "Bossman". From the dark heart of the Studio Void, he weaves the deep magics that make everything "The Z" does possible. From developing or improving upon how we do things at the station, to keeping track of our taxes, legal work, maintaining a living record of every artist and small business we've ever plugged or will plug - this guy is the brains behind our entire formula. He is a master of logistics, planning, and organization.
Bossman was born in the Piedmont Triad but was raised in a small town in East NC called Newton Grove. A lifetime of adventure packed into those earlier years caused him to fall in love with the music and arts scene in North Carolina. As a teen and young adult; attending concerts, craft shows, open mic nights, comedy nights, you name it - Bossman learned the workings of various branches of the scene across the state, and loved the interconnectedness of the community. Though he didn't know it then, these interactions would be the starting sparks of his "lightbulb" - sparks that would later, with help from his long-time friend "Zombie', ignite to form, well... a really cool idea.
